DESCRIPTION:The NAEA National Convention is an annual event providing substantive professional development services that include the advancement of knowledge in all sessions\, events\, and activities for the purpose of improving visual arts instruction in American schools. As such\, it is the world’s largest art education convention. \nThe three-day Convention includes over 1\,000 participatory workshops\, panels\, seminars for job-alike groups…research reports\, discussions\, exhibits\, and tours…keynote addresses by world-acclaimed educators\, artists\, researchers\, and scholars…with the opportunity to connect with your colleagues from all over the world. Each year\, some 110-200 exhibitor booths displaying the latest art textbooks\, high-tech software\, prints\, slides\, curriculum materials\, equipment\, and programs\, as well as the latest studio and art history media are made available for examination and review by art educator delegates. It is a professional development opportunity to update oneself on the vista of state-of-the-art materials to advance visual art instruction in local art programs. All sessions and events are 100 percent content-oriented and substantively based.

SUMMARY:NAEA/AAMD Symposium in Detroit
DESCRIPTION:Join the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) for a one-day symposium in Detroit on October 13 exploring the impact of single-visit art museum visits on school children. \nThe NAEA/AAMD Impact of Art Museum Programs on Students Research Initiative is one of the first major research projects to seek a better understanding of and identify the value that art museum education brings to student learning within the formal\, K–12 American school setting. This investigation assessed qualitatively and quantitatively the cognitive\, affective\, social\, and other instrumental outcomes\, resulting from single-visit\, guided school programs.

SUMMARY:2018 National Dance Education Organization Conference - Connections\, Knowledge\, and Leadership: A New Era in Dance Education
DESCRIPTION:The NDEO 2018 National Conference will be in San Diego this fall and includes three full days of more than 200 movement workshops\, master classes\, panel presentation\, research paper presentations\, social events and performances. A full day of pre-conference intensives precedes the official start of conference. San Diego is home to a very active and diverse dance ecosystem comprised of numerous dance companies and dance makers working in forms rooted in local cultural traditions. Dance education is flourishing in San Diego with courses offered in five community college districts\, two state universities\, and dance is also found inside a robust accredited public high school system. San Diego’s dance scene also boasts community programs that add enrichment based dance instruction in the K-12 public and private classrooms. San Diego has deep artistic roots that provide the foundation for new growth in artistic creation and education by forging new pathways in the dance.  In this new era\, it is essential that we as dance educators make mindful connections\, deepen our knowledge\, and lead with purpose in the classroom\, the studio\, the stage and beyond.

In ESSA\, opportunities for arts education delivery exist in sections describing school accountability and improvement\, professional development and teacher evaluation\, a well-rounded education\, after-school programs\, and non-academic requisites that support student achievement. \nIn response to needs identified through surveys and national research\, the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE)\, Young Audiences Arts for Learning\, and Kansas City Young Audiences\, invite you to a professional development conference examining opportunities for arts education delivery at the national\, state and local school district levels\, all through the lens of ESSA.
