National & State Advocacy and Funding

Arts Education Partnership provides information and guidance to assist arts education organizations and partnerships advocate for the arts at national, state and local levels and learn about government funding at the federal and state levels. The Partnership provides information on the grant programs of two federal agencies: the U.S. Department of Education and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Partnership is not a funding organization, nor does it provide academic scholarships.

No Subject Left Behind: A Guide to Arts Education Opportunities in the 2001 NCLB Act
This document serves as a guide for state and local arts and education leaders to learn more about the federal "No Child Left Behind Act" and the multiple opportunities for arts education. It provides a brief overview of the legislation including where to find specific references to the arts, descriptions of individual programs with arts specific examples that have received funding, and links to web sites for additional information. Updated in 2005, the latest version includes fiscal year 2005 appropriation figures and an easy-to-navigate table of contents (click on Bookmarks on the left side of your screen). Originally offered in 2002, "No Subject Left Behind" has been a work in progress and it may continue to be updated periodically. “No Subject Left Behind” is available in PDF format. National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA)
NASAA is the membership organization that unites, represents and serves the nation's state and jurisdictional arts agencies. NASAA's mission is to advance and promote a meaningful role for the arts in the lives of individuals, families and communities throughout the United States. They empower state arts agencies through strategic assistance that fosters leadership, enhances planning and decision making, and increases resources.
