Arts Ed Instructional Requirement - Elementary

Fine Arts Programs, Grades K-8: Each local school system shall provide an instructional program in fine arts each year for all students in grades K-8. Each student must have the opportunity to participate in fine arts instructional programs. (Md. Code Regs. 13A.04.16.01)

Curriculum Guides: Consistent with Education Article, §4-110, Annotated Code of Maryland, each of the local school systems shall provide fine arts education curriculum guides for the elementary, middle, and high schools under its jurisdiction. (Md. Code Regs. 13A.04.16.01.C)

Arts Requirements for High School Graduation

To be awarded a diploma, a student must be enrolled in a Maryland public school system and must have earned a minimum of 21 credits that include the following specified core credits: (2) Fine arts—one credit in visual arts, music, theater, or dance, or a combination of these. (Md. Code Regs. 13A.03.02.03)
